A roadmap was published on the Internet that demonstrates the products that TSMC manufactures using 5-nanometer process technology. The release of small series starts this year. The first solutions are Apple A14 / A14X and Huawei Kirin 1000 for smartphones. But next year, CPU, SoC and GPU production will start on a large scale according to the 5nm N5 manufacturing process.

Next year there will be at least four SoC for smartphones with 5 nm process technology: Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 with integrated 5G Snapdragon X60- Modem, Apple A15, Kirin 1100 for Huawei and MediaTek Dimensity 2000. Among the desktops, processors will be an AMD CPU based on the Zen 4 architecture. But the list of graphics cards looks much more interesting. It offers AMD models on RDNA 3, Nvidia GPUs based on the hopper architecture and even discrete 5 nm Intel Xe GPUs!

Analysts expect TSMC sales from 5nm production to reach 10% of total sales this year, and will increase 25-30% next year. After the 5nm N5 process technology, the company will switch to a more advanced 5nm N5 +. This will happen in 2022.

Everything seems to indicate that the Taiwanese company will use its 5 nm engraving progress in terms of yields and production capacity to attract a maximum of customers, as has already been done 7 nm, to the detriment of Samsung, that can always get back part of the orders, but more as an alternative supplier.

According to the latest reports, the Trump administration is in talks with chipmakers, including Intel and TSMC, to build factories in the United States. This move will help the US reduce its dependence on Asian imports. In addition, reports claim that some U.S. government officials are also trying to draw in Samsung. They help Samsung Electronics expand its US market by manufacturing more advanced chips in the US
