The Redmi 9 is slowly changing from a rumored smartphone to an upcoming launch. After the handset hit the headlines, it just visited the FCC with the M2004J19G. It reveals some interesting details like the obvious presence of MIUI 11 and Android 10 right out of the box.
However, the most interesting confirmation we get from there is the battery size. According to the list, the handset, like its predecessor, will contain a 5,000 mAh battery. Unfortunately there is no information about the loading capacity yet. Recent speculations have shown that only 10 W are charged. This is a significant downgrade compared to the 18W charging of the Redmi 8 and 8A. Could it also be that Redmi is using micro USB connections again? The charging rate of 10 W often corresponds to this old standard. Hopefully this is not the case with the handset.
Another point of interest is the screen, which is enlarged to 6.6 inches, possibly 6.67 inches. Aside from the larger panel, we believe Redmi will stay with the same HD + resolution as the Redmi 8 series, which is likely to keep the price down and compete with Realme 6i. The handset will be an LTE-only phone and will support Wi-Fi 5.
The new Redmi 9 will soon be launched in China together with the Redmi 10X.
