Microsoft Surface Duo ...

Microsoft Surface Duo leaked specifications reveal a 3,460 mAh battery

Microsoft is expected to enter the dual screen market for a long time. After many rumors, the company finally announced its plans for this market in October 2019 with the unveiling of Microsoft Surface Duo. Despite the announcement, the specs remain a mystery. Today, however, the specifications appear in a new twist of fate in a new report.

Alleged specifications from Microsoft Surface Duo

According to Windows Central, the new Surface Duo has 5.6-inch displays with a resolution of 1800 × 1350 and is 4.8 mm thick. Under the hood, the Surface Duo has Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC with 6 GB RAM. Choosing an old chipset is not a big surprise since Microsoft completed the internal design before Qualcomm's request for a separate 5G chip with the SD865 became known. The company has run out of space for the extra chip and it is too late to make a change like this.

According to the internal storage, the Surface Duo will be available in two variants – one with 64 GB storage and another one with 256 GB. The handset has a single camera with 11MP f / 2.0 1.12um. The new bit also confirms that the two panels are AMOLED displays with 401 pixels per inch. In addition, the new Slate will have a USB-C quick charge and a 3,460 mAh battery.

This amount of battery does not seem to be sufficient for two large displays. Let's see what kind of magic Microsoft uses to keep it going long enough when used intensively. Since it is the software, the duo is shipped with Android 10. However, it should get Android 11 "relatively quickly". Microsoft wants to finish the pre-installed apps by next month. All first-party apps support both viewing and dragging and dropping when started.

Interestingly, some test devices seem to lack wireless charging and NFC. The lack of wireless charging isn't really surprising. However, the lack of NFC can be heartbreaking. Especially for users who want to pay with the new Slate. We have to wait for more details from Microsoft to confirm the availability of the above features.

Unfortunately there are no details on the price and especially the start date.
