HMD Global honors its name again as the fastest smartphone brand that provides software updates. Today, the company releases a new update for the fairly old Nokia 5.1 Plus, which brings Android 10. This is the 15th device to be added to the list of Nokia smartphones running Android 10.
Interestingly, the smartphone came with the Android 8.1 version in 2018. The handset was then updated to Android 9 and now receives Android 10. Since it is part of Android One, at least two important Android updates are guaranteed. So we can say that the device has reached its deadline pretty well. Unless HMD Global brings a surprise in the future. Although Android 11 has not been confirmed, the phone will continue to receive security updates until the end of 2021.
The new update contains several new functions such as gesture navigation, improved data protection functions, focus mode and an updated user interface. The company expects to launch corresponding Android 10 updates for devices such as Nokia 1 Plus and Nokia 1 by the end of this quarter. The list of Nokia devices with Google's latest Android version will only be expanded in the coming months.
While Nokia devices may not be for everyone. Buying one of these devices is one of the best ways to keep Android up to date for an extended period of time. The update for Nokia 5.1 Plus will be launched in India and should reach other regions in the coming days.
