The history of OnePlus with its special phones is quite old. The company launched the OnePlus 5T and its Star Wars Edition a few years ago. Then it followed the trend with the Marvel Avengers Edition of OnePlus 6. Unfortunately, none of these devices was generally available to the public. Instead, very few units were sold in selected markets. The company recently expanded the scope of its special edition with the introduction of the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition. This particular variant was the highest quality OnePlus offering to date and brought not only an aesthetic change, but also 10 GB of RAM and Warp Charge 30. The company's partnership with McLaren continued last year with the introduction of OnePlus 7T Pro MacLaren Edition. However, now it seems that we won't be seeing OnePlus 8T Pro McLaren Edition this year.
This could be the end of the almost two-year partnership.
Well, the OnePlus 8 Pro could be a newer device, but it's almost impossible to believe that OnePlus will stick to its tradition of launching another "T" variant by the end of this year. The new variant may come sometime, but according to a recent report, it is not listed as a McLaren brand. According to a report by Reedit, OnePlus is no longer on the list of Formula 1 partners for McLaren for the 2020 season. The smartphone manufacturer was only listed until March 29, 2020. As a result, the company may have lost partner status in the past month or even this month.
Given this fact, it can be assumed that we will not see OnePlus 8T Pro McLaren Edition this year. However, this does not necessarily mean that the company does not release a special edition at all. The company is known for sticking to its traditions. So it is only a matter of time before OnePlus comes out with another partner for a special smartphone. No official statement from OnePlus is currently available to confirm the end of this partnership. However, the company should respond in the coming days, weeks, or even months. After all, we see no reason for OnePlus to rush with this information. After all, this doesn't seem to be the right time to talk about the OnePlus 8T series.
The OnePlus 8 devices have just entered the market and are still struggling under the leadership of COVID-19 to conquer the user preference pandemic in these difficult days. We'll probably hear more about them in the coming months.
