Huawei launches Petal Search as an alternative to Google search

In mid-May 2020, Huawei officially launched its petal search engine. The company lost access to Google services under American sanctions and is therefore developing its own alternative products. The search engine can now be downloaded from the AppGallery.

In Petal Search, users can not only search for the information they need, they can also view news, weather forecasts, view videos, listen to music, book hotel rooms, and download applications. In addition, Huawei promises to gradually expand the functionality of the service.

The company has been developing this service for over a year. During the tests, the search service was called Huawei Search, and the system itself has been tested since February 2020. Now a stable version of Petal Search has been offered for download in the Huawei online shop.

The new platform makes Petal Search easier to find applications from third-party sources and to download and install the APK. If the application is available in the AppGallery, the user is redirected to the company's store. Otherwise, they will be sent to a third-party platform such as APKPure for download and installation. While the range of AppGallery is limited and it is of course still impossible to install Facebook, Instagram and other popular American services there.

Petal search is available in the AppGallery in the category that combines several services. The new application and its features may not yet be available in all countries.

In early May, some reports asked Google for permission to resume working with Huawei. However, the government did not respond to the request.

It is worth noting that Huawei announced EMUI 10.1 together with the Huawei P40 line at the end of March. The company's new version of the company's mobile software was later available for older devices as part of the beta program.

Last week Huawei P30 and Huawei P30 Pro received an open beta, and now Huawei P30, P30 Pro and MatePad Pro can be upgraded to a stable version of the firmware. China was the first country to receive a stable version of EMUI 10.1. It was available for Huawei P30, P30 Pro and MatePad Pro. In the near future, the global version of the firmware will be available in other regions. Huawei won't delay this.
