Huawei releases CableFree, a breakthrough 5G antenna technology

Huawei recently released 5G antenna technology called CableFree. This technology brings major breakthroughs in key areas such as base station antenna integration, radiation efficiency, and power capacity. This device begins a new phase in the development of antennas in the 5G era. According to the company, the CableFree technology breaks the current bottleneck in antenna design. It also effectively improves the antenna's capabilities in all aspects.

The new CableFree antenna from Huawei is wireless as its name. It also integrates a phase shifter design that improves antenna integration and antenna performance. CableFree technology has already been used for some Huawei devices, including antennas from the Munich Pro, Golden Mini and London Pro series from Huawei, as well as 32T32R Massive MIMO products. This helps customers deploy high quality 5G networks quickly.

Some technological advances at Huawei CableFree

  • Good high band coverage: 5G uses a higher frequency band and needs a higher antenna for better coverage. At the same time, the 5G network coverage must be coordinated by several frequency bands. When using 1.8 GHz / 2.1 GHz and frequency bands other than 5G uplinks, high frequency coverage plays an important role in the continuity of the 5G experience. CableFree technology improves the efficiency of antenna radiation by approximately 20%. This also increases the quality of the antenna coverage.
  • Meets higher power and frequency requirements: In the 5G era, large capacity, high speed requirements require the use of more spectrum and higher order MIMO. The antenna load power increases from five or six hundred watts to more than one kilowatt . CableFree technology improves antenna performance by more than 80%. It thus meets the higher requirements for the output power of the 5G era.
  • Lower weight, easy to install: The high degree of integration of the antenna components effectively reduces the antenna weight. Let's take the 6-band antenna as an example, the total weight is reduced by approx. 10 kg. The weight of the control multiband antenna is within 50 kg. This avoids the use of cranes, which simplifies the installation process and saves installation costs.
  • The PIM performance of the antenna is better: CableFree technology reduces 80% of the internal antenna screws and welded connections. This also reduces the PIM risks. PIM means "passive intermodulation". CableFree comes with fewer screws and joints, guaranteeing long-term PIM stability. This new architecture and process improve the relationship between production automation. It also ensures better consistency in mass production performance.
