Samsung launches at least one new smartwatch each year under its newer Galaxy Watch range. The offer already includes numerous offers such as Galaxy Watch (WiFi, LTE), Watch Active, Galaxy Watch Active 2 and Active 2 LTE. Given the previous trends, the chaebol has the next iteration for this year. Last month, the upcoming wearable appeared in CMIIT certification, revealing some key specifications. Well, the product has now received another certification in China.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 2020: Important information we know so far
The smartwatch has now received 3C (Mandatory Certification from China). For those who don't know, this certification is required so that the product can be imported and sold in the country. This makes it a very prominent certification. The next offer or the Galaxy Watch 2020 (for simplicity) will be delivered with the model numbers SM-R840 and SM-R850. It is worth noting that we saw the same model numbers in the previous certification. In addition to these two model numbers, the previous certification also covered SM-R845 and SM-R855. These two could be the LTE variants of the two different sizes of the next smartwatch.
Unfortunately, the new certification did not reveal anything decisive about the product. It only indicates the start of the wearable. Given previous leaks and rumors, the wearable comes with 8GB of onboard storage, making it a huge improvement over current offerings. There is also a slight improvement in the battery aspect, since the newer offer contains 330 mAh cells. For connectivity, we see 2.4 GHz WiFi, Bluetooth and of course 4G LTE with the E-Sim. At the moment we don't know much about the product. In fact, there is no information about the nickname either.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 2020 should be a successor to the original Galaxy Watch, as the Active range already contains two offers. Starting the second iteration makes more sense than adding another Active 3 to the roster.
It is worth noting that Samsung has not officially talked about the next iteration of the portable Galaxy Watch. We expect the next generation smartwatch to be launched along with the Note 20 series. Given that the product has now received 3C certification, we can say that the product is nearing the official launch. With that in mind, we should hopefully hear more information in the coming week.
