After numerous leaks and rumors, Sony finally launches its first 5G-capable flagship smartphone, the Xperia 1 II. The flagship phone will soon be official in the US region. The smartphone manufacturer has released some important information about the phone today, which includes the price and availability details. This is not the first time we have heard of the brand through the device. In fact, Sony unveiled the device a few months ago by releasing an official 2-minute video.

Sony Xperia 1 II: launch, availability

According to new official information, Sony will launch its Xperia 1 II on July 24th in the US market. This means that interested buyers can buy the device from July 24th. In addition, the pre-order for the device begins on June 1st. As part of the pre-order offer, the company offers a pair of Sony WF-1000XM3 noise canceling earphones for free. To take advantage of this offer, you must pre-order the device by June 28th.

The price of the Xperia 1 II comes at a hefty $ 1,200. For reference, the Galaxy S20 Plus carries the same price. The device will support all major network operators, namely Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, MetroPCS and cricket networks.

Technical data, features

Apart from the availability details, we know almost everything about the device. The Xperia 1 II is equipped with a 6.5-inch AMOLED panel with a 4K resolution and an aspect ratio of 21: 9. Under the hood, the device uses the paired flagship Snapdragon 865 chipset. Unfortunately, the memory configurations are not yet known. In terms of optics, let's look at a 12-megapixel triple camera module on the back, which can record up to 20 fps in burst mode. It can also calculate AF / AE up to 60 times per second.

All of this is supported by a decent 4,000 mAh battery inside. There is also no information on fast charging support. Although the device will definitely arrive with wireless charging. The device still retains the 3.5mm audio jack that buyers may appreciate. It's also worth noting that the device only comes with a 4G network, while the European version supports 5G connectivity. The company is working on a 5G version called Xperia Pro, which would be nothing more than a 5G version of Xperia 1 II. The device is currently under construction and the brand has not yet confirmed its existence.
