The Xiaomi Mi TV stick will be released with Android TV shortly

Google improved its game with the Android TV platform last year. Now the search giant has many partners running the platform, including new players like OnePlus and the recently released Realme TV. The platform is constantly receiving new features and reports indicate that it will be renamed Google TV during Google I / O. Among the well-known partners that are pushing new hardware with Android TV, we have Xiaomi. The Chinese giant is preparing for the announcement of a new product – the Mi TV stick.

The company has a broad portfolio of Android TVs. The 4K series ranges from 43 inches to 65 inches. Xiaomi also offers the Mi TV Box as a set-top box with Android TV. Now the company started testing a new form factor for this type of product – a streaming stick.

A few weeks ago, the device was discovered on Gearbest, but nothing could be said about the accuracy of the material on the occasion. Now, however, the company's new teaser confirms the readability of the business listing. The company today published the first official picture of the upcoming Mi-TV stick via an online event. In the picture we see a remote control and a slim dongle. Interestingly, the remote has Google Assistant, Netflix, and Amazon Prime video buttons.

We can get some of the specs by returning to Gearbest's list. The Mi-TV-Stick is a dongle version of the Mi-Box S. The Amlogic S905 Y2 quad-core chip with 2 GB RAM and 8 GB memory is located under the hood. There is also a Mali G31 GPU that ensures graphic tasks. The device comes with Android TV based on Android 9 Pie. The stick offers DTS-HD audio support, Dolby Stereo and "High Clarity 4K HDR". The connection for the dongle is HDMI 2.0.

The Mi TV stick costs $ 79 at Gearbest. However, this is just a placeholder. We believe that it can be cheaper than the Mi Box S, which is retailed for $ 59. The official launch of the Mi TV Stick could take place in the coming days. While the first release will be in China, we believe this is a product that can do well in Europe and India. Therefore, Xiaomi can consider this fact for global release.
