If you've been following the Chinese smartphone market for a long time, the Gionee name isn't new to you. In the golden days, the company launched several smartphones each year and was highly concentrated in India. The company has lost space in recent years and is said to have gone bankrupt in 2018 due to unpaid debt and poor financial management. Gionee made a comeback last year with the launch of several mid-range and entry-level smartphones. Despite the silence that followed these releases, the company hasn't gone away and is now releasing a new device called the Gionee K6.
Gionee K6 Specifications
The Gionee K6 offers mid-range specifications. It carries the aging Helio P60 chipset, but it is accompanied by 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. Prices start at CNY 799 (~ 112 USD) and there is another variant with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage for 899 CNY (~ 127 USD). The most expensive variant offers 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage and costs only 1,099 CNY (~ 155 USD). This is an impressive package of specifications for this price. You may not be happy with the Helio P60, but the RAM and memory configuration is just incredible at this price. We don't think Gionee will make much profit with this handset.
These specifications are based on a 6.2-inch LCD display with a water drop notch that houses a 13-megapixel selfie snapper. The handset has a dual camera setup on the back with a 16 megapixel snapper that leads the show. In addition, the back serves as a home for the fingerprint scanner. The phone comes with Android 10 and has a 4,350 mAh battery. Unfortunately, this decent amount of juice is limited to 10 W charging times.
If you are not interested in after-sales protection and software support, this phone is excellent value for money. The handset will be released in India in the coming weeks and we are sure it will sell well.
