With the new Facebook Collab app you can watch music videos and create them together

Have you ever seen a video of someone playing a great guitar melody and wondered if you could provide your vocals for a peppy song? Well, Facebook has launched an app that lets you do just that. Her name is Collab. The app was created by Facebook's experimental NPE app division, which also launched a group audio call app called CatchUp earlier this week.

When you talk about Collab, you can get videos posted in the app and add something from your own side (a sick beat, an electrifying guitar riff, or even a tune whistle) to create a kind of mashup that resembles a new one Music video by merging ideas from other users. Each collaboration consists of three videos, one of which must be your personal contribution.

Once you have finished your shared musical masterpiece, you can publish it with due recognition in the Collab feed to the other two creators, and from there it can be shared on other platforms such as Instagram and Facebook. From now on, Collab is only available by invitation on iOS and you can join the waiting list here.
