DxOMark: The performance of the LG V60 ThinQ camera is average

Let's face it: LG smartphones have never been great in photography. Of course, their flagships did not show terrible results when it came to photography and video recordings, but they also offered nothing out of the ordinary. Basically, the company tried to use its strengths: for example, it was always one of the best in terms of sound and physical protection of its devices.

With the release of the V60 ThinQ, the company has set itself the goal of improving this part. But it seems that their plans weren't meant to come true. At least it says in the DxOMark test.

The V60 ThinQ uses a 64 megapixel main sensor. The manufacturer chose Quad Bayer technology to take 16 megapixel images with acceptable exposure and good dynamic range. Unfortunately, the manufacturer was unable to be successful under real operating conditions. The pictures show a lot of noise and contrast problems. But the bokeh effect works pretty well thanks to the 3D ToF sensor.

The biggest problems with the LG V60 ThinQ camera are zoom photos. DxOMark found that the smartphone delivers relatively good results, but not good enough given the huge 64 megapixel sensor. The testers were also not satisfied with the quality of the video recording. If the camera shows more or less acceptable results during the day, the quality leaves something to be desired at night or under artificial lighting conditions: a lot of noise and the lack of adequate image stabilization.

As a result, LG V60 ThinQ scored exactly 100 points in DxOMark tests, which makes it comparable to the flagship devices from 2018. Hopefully the camera will improve with updates, but if you know the company's strategy to support its devices, there is no hope for it.
