Alma Wahlberg, the matriarch of the Wahlberg family, has died, according to her sons, Donnie and Mark.Wahlberg, 78, is a mother of nine and Boston native. She also starred on the reality television series “Wahlburgers” with her sons Donnie, Mark and Paul, the chef behind the Wahlburgers restaurant chain.Paul Wahlberg also opened a restaurant in Hingham named Alma Nove in honor of his mother.Alma Wahlberg is also the mother of actor Robert Wahlberg, who appeared in films such as “Mystic River” and “The Departed.”Donnie Wahlberg confirmed his mother’s death in an Instagram post, while Mark Wahlberg took to Twitter to share the news of her death.In July 2020, Donnie Wahlberg shared that his mother was suffering from dementia.”I’m so blessed to have been brought into this world by, raised by, taught by and set on my life’s path by, such an amazing woman,” Donnie Wahlberg wrote. “My mom Alma’s joy for life, love and people — combined with a pride in her humble beginnings and refusal to forget where she came from — undoubtedly shaped me into the man that I am.”It’s time to rest peacefully, mom,” he added. “I love you, miss you, thank you and will celebrate you, today and always.
