Masters 2021 leaderboard LIVE: Latest scores and updates from round three at Augusta
Follow all the action as the third round of The Masters gets underway at Augusta.
Justin Rose surged into a spectacular four-shot lead on Thursday but saw that advantage cut down to just one yesterday, with the Englishman struggling to recapture his best form. It was still a round of great resilience, though, by the former world No 1, who finished with a flourish of birdies to end with an even par round of 72. He will begin in the day’s final group alongside debutant Will Zalatoris who, despite never having won on the PGA Tour, has been in brilliant form.
There is a stacked field of high-profile names in close pursuit in what promises to be a thrilling moving day. Justin Spieth, the 2015 champion, whose redemptive form reached a peak with a victory in Texas last week, is just two shots back and made no attempts to conceal his thoughts of another Green Jacket after an impressive 68 yesterday. Justin Thomas, the Players champion, is just one further behind after a sloppy three-putt on the 18th green cast a blemish on what had otherwise been a perfect round of 67. Meanwhile, the likes of Tony Finau, Xander Schauffele and Bryson DeChambeau are still firmly in contention. That much cannot be said of Rory McIlroy or defending champion Dustin Johnson, though, with the pair both missing the cut. Follow all the action from round three below:

THE MASTERS 2021: BRILLIANT SPIETH
Right before the hooter blew, Jordan Spieth pulled off this breathtaking escape at the 8th.

THE MASTERS 2021: PLAY SUSPENDED DUE TO WEATHER
The officials are out on the course and the hooter blows as a storm looms. It’s not raining yet but the wind was picking up and there is a risk of lightning.

THE MASTERS 2021: SPIETH BACK ON THE ROLLERCOASTER
Jordan Spieth was hoping to surge into the lead but is back on his rather erratic first day rollercoaster. He pulls his drive at the narrow seventh and is forced to play a hooked approach into the green. It flies over the back, though, leaving a horrendous flop shot over the bunker straight onto the downhill slope. His attempt comes up short and he can’t get up and down from the sand, leading to a disastrous double-bogey. He responds immediately at the par-5 8th with an utterly brilliant piece of invention out of the pines to move back to -4.

THE MASTERS 2021: SCORING SLOWS ON FRONT NINE
There was an early surge of birdies as the players took advantage at 2 and 3 but the flow has stopped for now. That’s great news for Rose, though, who’s steadied himself after those two bogeys with pars at 5 and 6. He hits a brilliant drive straight down the heart of the 7th and has a chance to get in close to such a tricky green. The wind is starting to pick up out there and he backs off the ball quite a few times.

THE MASTERS 2021: DECHAMBEAU UNRAVELS
Bryson DeChambeau is in all sorts of bother on the back nine. Having started the day at -1, he finds the water at the par-3 12th and eventually taps in for a double-bogey. He’s now +3 for the tournament.

THE MASTERS 2021: ROSE DROPS ANOTHER SHOT
Rose drops another shot and he’s back to where he started. That’s a shame after such a fine first two holes but it’s another heavy bunker shot that’s cost him, this time at the 5th. The lead is just one.

THE MASTERS 2021: THOMAS’ FINE INVENTION
Justin Thomas has been a little frustrated out there and pulls his drive into the trees at the 7th. He has 133 yards to the flag and a pine blocking his line but that’s no problem. A brilliant hook around the tree stops pin high and that’ll be a great chance for a birdie.

THE MASTERS 2021: ROSE DROPS SHOT AT 4
The first crack in Rose’s armour emerges. His tee-shot at the par-3 4th finds the front bunker and his touch is a little heavy out of the sand. A left-to-right slider across the hill is veering towards the low side the moment it leaves the clubface and he’s back to -8. Zalatoris drops a shot, too, after a sliced tee-shot made for a three putt. Suddenly, the top of the leaderboard is very bunched again.
