Newcastle 0-1 Arsenal LIVE! Elneny goal – Premier League match stream, latest score and goal updates today

Arsenal face a trip north to St James’ Park as they visit a Newcastle side who have all-but secured their Premier League survival with a recent upturn in form.

The Gunners are in the middle of a Europa League semi-final against Villarreal, having gotten away with a 2-1 defeat despite a dismal showing in Spain on Thursday, with the second leg to come at the Emirates this week.

While that looming fixture is the prioirity, Mikel Arteta’s side are in need of a result on the home front, too, with their only league win in their last five games coming against now-relegated Sheffield United.

Steve Bruce’s Magpies go into today’s game nine points clear of the drop following Fulham’s defeat at Chelsea yesterday and should realistically be safe, after taking eight points from their last four games.

They will, however, have to do without Arsenal loanee Joe Willock, whose goals have been a key part of that run, as he is ineligible to face his parent club.

Live updates

62 mins: Fernandez becomes the latest man into the book as he catches Xhaka on the top of the foot. Sore one.

59 mins: Now Aubameyang’s down clutching the back of his head but he’ll be fine to continue. It’s all been a bit stop-start in the second half.

That’s bad news for Arsenal so early in the half. Luiz was only just back from a knee injury – ahead of schedule – and now looks to have hurt his hamstring. The Brazilian has been uncharacteristically consistent this season and his experience would have been much welcome in the Europa League on Thursday.

52 mins: He looks gutted as he hobbles off, Luiz. Calum Chambers is going to come on.

50 mins: This is a worry for David Luiz, who goes down after hitting a long ball. Remember, he’d only just come back from injury.

A rather straightforward half for Arsenal that. Good energy and they’ve dominated for the most part. Arteta may be frustrated that they’ve not put the game beyond their hosts, but after two weeks of chaos this will be welcome.

HALF-TIME | Newcastle 0-1 Arsenal

Not a thriller, but Arsenal are ahead at the break.

42 mins: Lovely little turn from Odegaard on the edge of the box and he’s brought down by Almiron, who has been booked so needs to be careful.

36 mins: Another crucial clearance. David Luiz heads towards the far corner and Wilson hooks clear – though it may have been drifting wide anyway.
